1.) An autoethnography is an essay that deals with someone who is trying to speak to people about their culture or way of life to an audience that might not have any experience.

2.) Phenomenology and autoethnographys are similar because they both can express the way people percive things.
6.)I didn’t really say too many things in my about me page. I just stated my main goals and hobbies in a brief two sentences. I dont really like posting information about myself for anyone to read.

7.) I pretty much agree with what I wrote in the begining of the semester.

         Having a sense of smell is extremely key to being aware of your surroundings.  For an example, if I am about to eat any kind of meat and I notice that it has a funky smell, that tells me that the meat is bad. Without having my sense of smell, I would probably have looked at the meat and if nothing looked wrong with it, I probably would have eaten it. Eating bad meat is extremely dangerous and without smelling that the meat was bad, i might have never noticed.

        Smell also can stimulate, or ruin my appetite. If I am walking by a bakery and smell cookies, I am more likely to go into the bakery and buy one. If I am on my way to lunch and smell dog shit, chances are it will ruin my appetite. Without my sense of smell I would have never entered the bakery or had my appetite ruined by the scent of dog shit.

         If you have ever been to the Lawrence dormitory on campus, you might notice a foul smell throughout the whole building.  I could not ever live in that dormitory on that basis. Without having my sense of smell, the dormitory wouldn’t really bother me. The smell of dirty laundry grabs my attention the second I walk in.

        In this blog, I gave reasons why my sense of smell is extremley important to me. I gave past experiences and examples of situations that might occur to back up my point.

        During my senior year of high-school, I was probably the only kid out of all of my friends that was going to college. Over the years I was always taught that every year universities get more competitive and jobs have a higher demand for workers with a college degree. One issue that always really bugged me was that my friends never had to do any school work.

        Over my high school career, I was constantly getting bombarded with school work. I knew the only reason I had to do more work than my friends was because I was going away to college and they weren’t. But the fact that they never had to do any of the bull shit work that I had to do really pissed me off. All of my friends had jobs working with their parents, doing something that doesn’t require a degree. Every night my friends would be out partying until the morning and I constantly had school work to do.

           After watching all of my friends go to work from nine to five everyday and get out stress free, I was in belief that maybe I didn’t have all of the skills that they had and that the only reason they had such easy lives was because they were already qualified for the life career. What I didn’t realize at the time was that going to college was actually a much better option then working right out of high school. All of the stupid work I had to do in high school actually benefited me today. Although my friends might make a lot of money now, I will definitely be better off than them in the future with a degree.

         My goal in this blog was to show my audience that just when I thought my friends were lucky, I was actually the lucky one. I had been looking at my situation all wrong. I believe that this blog shows my initial reaction to life and how my perception was off.

Audience: anyone ages 12 and up.
